First of all let us mention the Pontifical institutions of Marian studies (recognized by the Vatican):
The Pontifical International Marian Academy (PAMI) founded in Rome in 1946;
The Pontifical Academy of the Immaculata;
The Pontifical University Marianum, founded by the Servite Order in the fourteenth century and recognized pontifical university since 1971.
There are also throughout the world and in most countries of Catholic culture many Marian universities. Among others, it is important to mention the famous Marian Library founded by the Marianists of the University of Dayton (Ohio) in 1943.
There are also several Marian societies that undertake studies on the Virgin Mary. One of the most well known is the French Society of Marian Studies or Société Française d'Etudes Mariales (SFEM), founded in 1935.
