Married, the mother of six children, Elisabeth Bourgois worked as a head nurse for a surgery ward for more than ten years.
Later, to help young people in crisis, she took to writing. She has already published:

- Les Chaussons par la fenetre, Baby Slippers Out the Window (Editions du Triomphe)
- La Nouvelle Peste, The New Plague – which obtained the St-Exupery Award- (Editions du Triomphe)
Other works by Bourgois include "Bioethics for All," a book geared toward teenagers and parents dealing with all current issues: life, suffering, ethical questions ranging from conception to death etc.
E. Bourgois regularly speaks to middle and high schools audiences.
She is the founder and chair of the "Medicine and Human Dignity" Association since 1981.
