Aristides is one of the first Christian intellectuals who had the courage to present Jesus Christ to the people of his time.
In his Apology adressed to the Emperor Trajan (117-138), he explained in a concise manner the birth of the Son of the Most High:
"[...] He came down from heaven and took flesh of a Jewish virgin; and he, the Son of God, lived inside a daughter of man" (Apol 2,6: BAC 116, 134).
In the history of Salvation, the virginal motherhood is one of the signs of salvation sent to men by God.
The title "daughter of man" is particularly significant because it is closely related to the christological title: "Son of Man."
